A major airport in Spain has announced it will be closing - with passengers warned all flights will be cancelled.
Santiago de Compostela Airport in northwest Spain will halt all take-offs and landings from April 23 until May 27 to allow for multi-million pound maintenance work to go ahead.
It means thousands of Brits could face travel disruption over the coming weeks as multiple airlines - including Vueling, Ryanair, Iberia and British Airways - operate at the site, which also has routes into hotspots like Barcelona and Madrid.
There are usually 30 UK flights from Stansted , Gatwick and Heathrow landing at Santiago de Compostela Airport every week. With each plane holding around 180 passengers, it means an estimated 4,500 Brits could be impacted by the closure.
The airport operator, Aena, said in a statement that the site "will be closed from 23 April to 27 May 2026 for runway resurfacing works".
It added: "During this period, the airport will be closed to all air traffic, and no takeoffs or landings will take place. If you have any questions about your flight status, schedule changes, or possible rebooking, we recommend contacting your airline."
Those who were planning to travel to Santiago de Compostela during the closure period can fly to an alternative airport in the region.
The closest, located roughly 42 miles north, is the Santiago de Compostela is A Coru09a Airport. The site operates one flight a day to and from London Heathrow, with either British Airways, Iberia or Vueling.
Holidaymakers can also fly to Vigo Airport, around 61miles south of Santiago de Compostela, or just over an hour away in the car.
Santiago de Compostela, which is famed for its Gothic and Romanesque architecture, is the capital of Galicia in northwest Spain.
The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site best known as the final stop of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.
